Please forgive me for waiting sooooo long to thank you for the INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL, UNIQUE and OH SO THOUGHTFUL BIRTHDAY GIFT!!!! I was truly BLOWN AWAY!!! In fact I've been thinking that it might be a wonderful thing to reproduce and sell as a cookbook made by my ''crafty'' fans with the proceeds going to the GE Foundation. Of course I would need your approval! But if you're game then I'll get Frank on it and see what we can do. One of the reasons I've taken so long is, quite honestly, I've been very, very busy! Friday you'll see a show I did, ''Women Rock'' that I really enjoyed doing. You'll see some very unique collaborations and alot of fun that was had by all. I'm well into the writing of the album. In fact, I'd venture to say that all the music is done. I've already written lyrics for six of the cuts and am working on another song as I write this note. I'm also diligently working on my ''Connie Francis'' thing and am very pleased with the progress. Anyway, once again thank you so much for taking the time to make my birthday special as you do every year. Your donations to my foundation are TRULY APPRECIATED. Here they are some images from Wire. 9 OCTOBER 2002 Next 22th October will be out the new Jon Secada album "Amanecer" where Gloria take part in a duet named "Por Amor". Do you remember the singer Gian Marco that sung with Gloria and other latin artist in the song dedicated to the victims of the 11 september? For the first time a peruvian artist has been selected to write the Official Olimpic Theme for China 2008. The song is a collaboration with Jon Secada and Emilio Estefan and is entitled "So Much Love, So Far Away". It seems that Gian Marco revealed that Gloria has recorded some songs written by him for her new upcoming album... we hope it will be out soon! NEWS Gloria will perform at the third annual "Women Rock! Girls And Guitars concert", joining forces to champion the fight against breast cancer. The two-hour concert is a collaborative effort between Lifetime and Marie Claire magazine. It will be hosted by Jennifer Love Hewitt, who will also perform, and will tape at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on October 10. I don't know what to say. I'm sure that it has taught something to the world, right or not... anyway it has made us to stop and to think over the beautiful things that we have every day and that we do not appreciate as we would have. 9 SEPTEMBER 2002 This evening Gloria and many Stars will record at the Washington's Kennedy Center into the Concert Hall the "Concert for America", in memory of the very sad 11 september 2001. It will be aired next 11 september 2002 on the NBC. Some days ago some Miami fans met Gloria at Bongos that was celebrating with some friends her birthday, only VIP were admitted... but when her staff recognized the fans they let them enter the Bongos. They told us that she has been wonderful as always, and that she chatted and made some photos. Bush's visit to Miami in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Cuban's Independence. You can see also a black/white photo that show us Gloria after some absolute silent months. Hi There Everybody!! Thanks for coming by to check out what's new around here! I know I've been pretty quiet lately but don't take that for inactivity. I've been working on a few creative endeavors that you'll be hearing about very soon. I don't want to say anything until they're signed, sealed and delivered but I know you're going to enjoy them a great deal. One involves a movie, another a television show and two new albums. One of the albums is a new original, English language, studio album. I've already begun to write and am very excited about what we're doing. The other one is a surprise that will allow me to get out my "parody"side. More details will come as things develop. I've also sung a duet with Jon Secada for his new Spanish CD. The song is a classic called "Por Amor", meaning "For Love". Although I had sung background on Jon's debut album and he had done the same for me, we had never actually recorded a duet. I'm very happy with how it turned out and it was a joy to sing with Jon as it has always been when we've sung together live! The family is well and happy! with Nayib still living in London and Emily about to finish first grade. I wish you all the best and hope to let you in on all the news soon............... She presented the winner of the Album of the Year with Matthew McConaughey and Janet Jackson (for the record she won Gloria's Grammy). This early morning I've seen Gloria's performance on Antenne 2, because on the italian tv they were commenting the show covering Gloria's voice! Around 3.20 am she appeared on the stage, with a black outfit... really classic! Gloria arrived on a platform that was going around on the ice board and singing "Get on your feet". While started "Oye" Gloria moved to the bottom of the stair and some skaters took her under her arms and made her flight... Just arrived "on the ice" she started to sing the Flores del caribe mix version of "No me dejes de querer" with one of the Los Rabanes that sung the rap part of the song. While she was starting "Party time" the skaters took again her under her arms and went back to the platform where she ended her 3 minutes performance with some fireworks fountains while people in the crowd was going crazy!!! It's great to know something more on Gloria's country. With a big surprise I found one Gloria's pic on the cover, you can see it HERE. Unfortunately we haven't news of Gloria's tour, and my opinion is that we will not have the big joy to see her live around the world even next year. Anyway we wait following her through the big net... :) We have some important news from Miami: 1. Gloria will sing in Washington DC next 25 august for the Hispanic Heritage Awards to celebrate the Latino Heritage Month... the show will be aired on NBC television on 22 september. 2. Gloria will sing in New York at the Madison Square Garden next 7 september during the Tribute to Michael Jackson. 3. There will be a Special Tribute called "Amor a la musica" to Gloria, her husband Emilio, Celia Cruz and Marc Anthony at the Miami Arena next 9 september. 4. Gloria will perform live in a whole night dedicated to her for the Grand Opening of the casino "Mohegan Sun" in Connecticut next11 november. 5. The most bad news comes from a lawsuit Gloria and Emilio have with the colombian songwriter Kike Santander. You can read an article from the Miami Herald (published last 15 august) about the whole situation HERE. The only thing I want to add is that I support and I admire Gloria and Emilio for their work. They FIRST suffered early in their careers about this kind of things... I know well they can't be hypocritical. The next Latin Grammies will be in Los Angeles and not in Miami, unfortunately Gloria don't have a nomination. 29 JUNE 2001 MISTERY !!!
